This is NOT my truck, but is the same body style. I am in the planning stages of the headlights. The stock headlights are perched atop the fenders, so I used this pic because the fenders are already shaved.
If you're looking for an opinion I'd go for the wider placement like the Willys. If you want to get real creative try and copy the coffin nose Cord lights.
My father has a Dodge pick up like that. We put 38 Ford truck headlights on in place of the stock ones. We thought about putting 40 Ford car lights in the fender but thought the hood would look too tall with out the headlights on the fender. Another option would be to try the long 40 Chevy buckets mounted between the peak in the fender and the hood. Clark

Now you're talkin. It's an easy section job. Take two or three louvers out of the upper grill, make new hood sides and take the propper amount out of the panel below the doors. I tried to talk my father into it but he is too conservative. Try making your own frenched headlights. Center the lights on the peak in the fender. using 1/4" rod make a ring to go around the light. Use the rod to make the peak come to the light. Then fill in the open areas with sheetmetal. Sorta hard to explain on a computer. Clark
looking for a picture of a '39 Dodge car, similar shape to the hood and fenders but with squarish headlights in the fenders.. might work with your section. Paul
Since it's getting sectioned and chopped I think it would look best with '39 Ford DELUXE headlights and '39 Buick "harp" grills. That would get it away from that "industrial" look and might actually be pretty. (Just don't paint it a color that's named after a fruit, like peach...)

[/ QUOTE ] I like the grill...I just HATE the stock headlights. Owned by me = flat black I am cutting down the bed(alot) and s****ping the running boards. I can not do anything until I find a Dakota rolling ch***is
There is a guy here in Phoenix who molded '40 Ford deluxe lights into the fenders. It looks really good. I think either the '40 Ford deluxe or the '39 ford deluxe would work really well.
I don't care for the stock headlights sitting on the big fenders either. Here's an option I seen a fellow use on a 1941-47 style chevy truck with the same headlight issues. I liked the look of it. 2003 Mercedes headlights.

No They didn't look too modern to me. No pics but I do remembering seeing one built that way with the mercedes headlights in one of the truckin'magazines a couple of years ago. I did look for this vehicle for you on line to no availe. Sorry but maybe someone here can photoshop some on your rig.
