If you've setup the Bob Drake style of reflectors in the old Ford Buckets, I cant seem to get the light well aimed, there's a bright pattern on the ground right in front, too close, and not much further out in front. The lights are 2-3 degrees down from vertical, and testing on a wall the bright spot appears only ~2" lower than the light center at 10 ft away. All I can figure is the bulb may be fitted incorrectly in it's fixture?
Pitman If you have the original lenses on the lights, then your problem is probably with the adjustment of the reflectors. If you have replacement lenses, some of those will never focus properly.
Model As don't have adjustable reflectors, the sockets are turned in or out by the screw in the back of the light shell to focus the light. Reproduction lenses are not the focus problem but reproduction reflectors have always been a problem. Best to have an original reflector resilvered or coated by UVIRA in the Pacific NW.
If i remember right, it's been awhile, i put halogen bulbs in original buckets w/ repo reflectors, and original lenses. Lit up the whole area including the birds in the trees. Never could use a headlight aimer to get it right.
Pasadena, and guys, thanks! I will try shifting the bulb location in the reflector...assuming this is possible, (may involve plastic "whittling") and see what direction can be achieved.
