Technical Headlight rheostat, any fix?

The photo in post 6 looks much like the one I striped from a new aftermarket switch.
I was able to do some whittling on the ceramic to make it fit my application.
It's the diff between a junk switch & a rather valuable switch.
The pieces from Caddy Daddy are about 100 bucks and a repop of a '60's switch is about $40.
