    I bought a new headlight switch for my 37 Ford. It is a GM switch. I also have a GM pigtail. I think it came from a 1979 Pontiac Grand Prix. The wires are:
    RED
    GREEN
    YELLOW
    BROWN
    ORANGE
    BLACK
    and two WHITE wires together..

    Does anyone know where these go?? Thanks.. Al

    Painless Performance has a lot of diagrams. Here is their GM switch wiring diagram.

    Fordcrager.. According to the diagram from Painless.. Both the red and the black go to a + Positive.. They both are like 12 gauge wires..

    Al,

    I just installed one of these switches a couple of days ago, and here is how I wired it.

    There wasn't a number for the Dome and interior lights, on the switch, so I'll call it "0"

    0 = Dome and Interior light return
    1 = Battery (on my old switch, I ran this wire to the ignition switch, this time to an always hot connection; that way I always could turn on the headlights without turning on the ignition)
    2 = Dash lights
    3 = No connection
    4 = Tail lights
    5 = Fuse box
    6 = Dimmer switch
    7 = Park lights

    Wiring it this way, gives you power to the headlights and park lights all of the time; and all of your other lights are fused.

    In the previous post I referred to contact numbers 1-7, these are the numbers that are on my new Cole Hersee switch P/N 71092-02.

    Using the Painless diagram, here is the conversion that I used.

    1 = 928 Battery
    2 = 930 Dashlights
    3 = Not connected
    4 = 929 Tail lights
    5 = 928 Battery (this is the one I ran to a fuse)
    6 = 907 Dimmer
    7 = 927 Park lights
