i happen to agree as far as the blue dot etc. i guess i need to ask if anyone knows of a way to add turn signals in a headlight without addin g separate turn signals. thanks

  6. Notwithstanding the other respected opinions my concern with a turn signal almost in the cone of headlight beam may be ineffective - as in hard to see. And, isn't visibility the intent?

I've seen those bulbs and other headlight ***emblies with turn signals in the same pod but I haven't actually seen them in use.

couple options for headlights with turn signals built in that are traditional. none of the type you listed look remotely correct installed on a vintage headlight bucket. mostly very flat with modern looking reflectors. I would pick up a set of headlights with the turn signal on top, ala guide 682c which are even being reproduced if I remember correctly. other option that might look decent is a pair of amber fog/driving lights setup as blinkers.

Check out some of the catalogs that sell street rod parts,,there are kits that convert your headlight that use a new styled reflector with or without the built in turn signal.

The type you initially posted do look like Poo! HRP

This set up is really hard to see the lamp blinking in the day time; only a little better at night. If you think about it, at night it is having to overcome the brightness of the headlight being on and is still not that noticeable.

I had thought about doing this until I saw it in action on a buddies car.

If this is the at***ude you take when YOU asked for opinions, and a highly regarded senior member offers such opinion, then don't bother asking any more.

They DO look like ****, and in my experience put out a terrible light beam. Night driving becomes dangerous at best, and you will end up going back to King Bees.

  12. I've modded original 26 T headlamps (with original, but resilvered, reflectors and lenses) to take an LED turn indicator bulb. The bulb can't be seen through the lense when it is switched off - on the other hand it is not much better when it is switched on.

However, it's legal so that's good enough. Hand signals help, people haven't a clue what you're doing so they stay back.

    Speedway motors sells these:
    http://www.speedwaymotors.com/Turn-Signal-Indicator-for-H-4-Bulbs,2376.html

I use them as parking lights. Wouldn't trust them as turn lights.

The lights you ask about is probably available without the blue dot, too, if that's a problem. Or you could easily make a similar solution in a standard bulb by drilling a hole and fasten a suitable, orange indicator light in ut.

Me thinks he asked for some info about them not what you personally think of them.

Most of the hot rod shops sell them.
Speedway. Yogi's, Southern Rods etc. etc.

I'm using stock 30 Model A headlight shells with after market reflectors that have halogen bulbs and a 1157 bulb for parking light and turn singal. They work fine in the daylight but you can't see the turn signal when the headlight is on.

The lights that prather had on his car are repop Peterbilt headlites with a park lite lense in them they were never intended to be signal lites, the model A lite with the amber bulb in them are marketed as park and turn signal but as everyone has said they are hard to see at night, I would bet that there is a rule on the books that says what square inches a signal lite must be and where placement is,ie:eek:uter corner/edge of vehicle, most law men may not enforce it but would if he wanted to be an ***.

  18. I don't know what company those are, I have seen lights like them on the higher end cars around here and the fellas running them seem to like 'em. The turn signals seem to light up well enough.

They must be pretty durable because a lot of them guys are not real mechanically inclined. If durability is what you are asking.

Try searching the site. There is a lengthy dialog about aftermarket headlights, what works, what doesn't, and even some useful information. As for me, I'll be running vintage fog lights for turn signals. Not because I am all that traditional but because I'm cheap.

That's cool. I don't even like amber bulbs or lenses in 55 Chevy's. I take Ryan's instructions literally.

I have them on my "A" and they work okay and dont look as bad as some aftermarket Harley "add-ons" dangling in the wind. Turn signals just dont look right on any Hot Rod but some times safety & legalities have to be met. You can buy 1157 or 1034 bulbs that are amber when lit but appear silver when not...so I have heard

Used to see these type of lights mounted on the rear fenders. I was told that during WW2 they were used so the vehicle would be easier to see parked at the curb at night during a black out.

  25. Here are the ones on the Divco.
They work, as turn siginal and runing lights

I uses these. Not even close to traditional, but they give you a turn signal. These are marginally visible when the headlights are on.

I don't think the single LED from Speedway would work as a stand alone blinker. I almost used them.

10 LED lights that are clear until turned on - then amber.

I learned in another thread my 4 bar isn't cool or traditional either. oh well.
