Guys, I plan on putting a headliner in my truck. The original was some sort of cardboard or chipboard. It came in two or three pieces and had an aluminum support to hold it up. Though it was falling apart when I got the truck, it seems that you insert one side of each cardboard piece into one of the grooves around the edge of the roof, then insert the other side of the panel into the groove on the other side of the roof, and then slide it around to center the panel on the roof. I have done headliners on modern cars with the jute-like form on the roof. On one car I added foam inserts to make it look like 3-D flames. Any simple ideas to make a one piece headliner for my International pickup? BTW the truck has cabover lights and I would like to put some insulation between the roof and the headliner. Thank you.
What about welding in some headliner bows, like you would find in a car? Then you could make the headliner out of whatever backing & fabric you want.
On my f-100 I went to the junk yard and took the headliner out of a early 90's lincoln then i laid the old one on it for a pattern and cut it out. It was made out of some rigid pressed fibre rienforced board . I even found one the right color!
How did you slide in, or install, the lincoln headliner in? I do not have the old headliner for a template.

I dont know what the inside of an international looks like or what held the original headliner up in your truck. Mine was a 69 F100 it had mouldings all the way around it to hold it in. I guess if you dont have a pattern you could do some measuring and cut it out big and trim it till it fits.
