That caddy link looks great, but my connect is too slow to process it this week.

I've used homemade lizard skin, lobuckrods insulation, and foil back jute on the roof of my shoebox, and it's been up there for around a year or so with no prob.

I used dap landau top adhesive, it's the best.

The lobucrod insulation keeps a lot of heat from radiating inside the car(like a toaster oven) and the jute keeps the echo/outside noise out.

For a little bit of money you can get a big effect in making your car more pleasant to drive, IMHO

The homemade lizard skin, at the end of the day I don't think it was worth the h***le.

For best results I think you have to kinda throw everything at it, as I don't believe there is one easy answer to a real heat problem.

My shoebox would just get killer hot inside(especially w/o vent windows), so the insulation has been mandatory in my case.

Another school of thought is that you're better off without it if you don't run A/C.

Hell if I know, after much research I don't believe there are many easy answers.

When you get ready to instlall install the insulation and are thinking about adhesive, don't use the basic 3M Weatherstrip Adhesive, use the 3M Super (black can) Adhesive. It will handle the heat from a hot top under your headliner, and won't let go.

I have the low-e that lowbuck sells inside the roof of my '53 Chevy. No headliner. In the summer the cross brace that isn't insulated gets hot to the touch. The rest it (the insulated part) stays cool to the touch. This summer I plan to add more right over the cross brace to eliminate that source of radiating heat.

You cannot have too much insulation in a car. Ask the OEMs
