    Hi,

On dads '53 Customline (215 eng) the heater control valve started leaking around the valve stem, and I haven't been able to find a new one. Do any of you know of a decent subs***ute that won't look too awful under the hood? Thanks!

If it is cable operated, Ford used something like that in the '70s on pick-up trucks.
Also, Mac's has a couple of different ones in their truck catalogue under heater water control valves. Carpenter probably has them also. There are a few listed on the "bay".

In the early 70's the cable ones were an in line valve and simple to install . I have even seen people use a water valve before like the ones in your house to turn the water off to the outside faucets . Hey it works !

Good ideas! I'll look through a catalog to see if I can find something close. Thanks for the pictures O.L.M! That was sort of what I thought I'd have to do. Your old valve looks pretty much like mine. Thanks everyone.

I found a 4-Seasons P/N 74628 heater control valve that worked. Made a cover plate to go on the inside of the firewall to seal the hole left by the old control valve, and put a grommet in it for the heater cable to go through. Had to re-do the heater hoses, as the routing changes. It doesn't look quite stock, but works perfectly and won't leak antifreeze all over the carpet if it goes bad again. Hope this helps someone in a similar situation.

As long as it works when it gets cold , that's all that matters in the end !

Hold up guys... funny this should come up...

Autozone had em listed, probably by accident, for $1.29 each. So I ordered 20 :D

If I actually do get them, my cost each is about $2 and change each... which I'll be happy to sell em for, plus whatever it costs to ship em.

So gimme a few days to see if these actually show up.
