I did a search for this and came up empty handed. I'm in the middle of changing my 53 over to 12 volts, and since the heater fan is burned up anyway I wanted to put in a new 12 v one. So I'm trying to figure out what car I can get one out of that will fit. Any help is greatly appreciated. I also wanted to see if I could post a picture. So, hopefully, heres a picture:

  2. what i did when i helped a buddy swap his car over to 12v was, i took the fan mtr to my local mom & pop parts house & they opened up the books, looked for one that matched up & were able to come up w/a 12v fan mtr that bolted right in place of the 6v mtr.

I just did this with my '47 ford about 4 months ago. Go to napa, bring your old motor, and find a guy who knows his shit. Get the book out. There's a handy chart in there with all the motor measurements, and a chart that tells you the part number, each measurement, which way the motor spins, ect....

    Have fun!

That's a clean '53 ! Looks like factory paint well maintained. 3 speed or PG ?
I've salvaged 12v Delco motors from mid '50s Buicks or Cads for years with no problems. They fit as is, are easy to find, really well made, serviceable, and all metal. If it runs quietly on the bench for half an hour, it'll likely give good service. If your factory electrical switch still works, it'll probably fail if used on 12v, so consider a hidden rheostat switch.

It's an automatic. Picked it up last summer with 33k on it. I have the original wheels. Just gotta get some new tires on em. I think a couple of the tires might be original too. The paint's ok. Been touched up with a brush in some spots, like most of the fender. Just needs a couple of little things to be a really good driver I think.
