1952-59 Ford heater motor

    my heater motor is bad. the car has been converted to 12v already, and when my dad did it, he used an inline resistor to hook 12v to all the 6v gauges, motors, etc.

    but, now that it needs to be replaced anyway, should i be looking at something other than a stock replacement?

    Early Mustang will work, use the squrel cage from yours, single speed are cheap, 2 speed you will pay more for it. Gerry

    There is a link somewhere here in the archives as to the part number from Graingers which is where I got mine from,they run around $40 and has the correct size shaft so it is about a 20-25 minute install.

    A friend of mine used a motor from a 74 Dodge Dart in his 54 Merc. You just have to use your squirrel cage. I never changed mine but I have a 67 Dart and the blower motor in it is very similar.

    thanks fellas. all good info. i'll report back when i get around to it. gonna go with a 2spd, gerry, since that is what was stock.
