Has anyone used one of the newer HEI distributors made for a SBF? They are cheap as heck on Ebay ($57) which is way cheaper than using a Pertronix electronic points conversion kit. Before I buy one I'd like to see if anyone has used them and how well they actually work and hold up. Last thing I want to do is get stranded in bumcrap because of some cheap Chinese part. I used I believe a Crane unit in one of my 49 Ford Panel Truck running a 302 and that electronic points conversion was flawless and I know the Pertronix are too. Thought I might try something different and save a few bucks if they work well. Thanks!
I made mine years back, worked like a dream. I am not so sure about the china stuff. keep a module on hand and roll
I use the stock duraspark dissy w/a HEI module mounted under the dash. Cheaper than the HEI dissy they sell.
