Hey everyone, glad to be on here. I have a lot of old cars, as well as some early millenial rides too for daily use and abuse. I am currently working on a 1955 Chevy 210 sedan that I found parked in a shed for 35 years. It's a sweet, honest old car that was just forgotten in time. It has the 235 six and powerglide trans. Got her to run well enough, but it is more of a 235 four since the front two cylinders are essentially dead (valves leaking). I scour Craigslist every week for every vehicle I own, looking for the latest deals on parts I may need. This week I hit gold, finding an add stating: "1955 Bel Air engine, transmission and glass for sale" Intrigued, I open the ad and to my delight, it was for a 265 small block and transmission all together and running perfectly. Still has the oil bath air cleaner on it too. I call the owner and strike a deal on the spot. He pulled it out of the car and it is ready for me to come pick up. This should be a 100% bolt-in affair with only exhaust modifications hopefully. I am concerned about him saying he thinks it is a later model distributor from the 60's, as these 265 engines need their original dizzies for proper oiling. I have attached pictures for reference and I will be pulling the distributor immediately upon receipt for verification of what's in it. Only other question is about the glide, will it bolt up to the 265? I have heard it will not, but I do have the three speed included with the 265 and was hoping maybe I could use it's bellhousing. If not I will have to do some more hunting for a V8 glide or possibly a TH350 upgrade. Anyways, look forward to meeting the lot of ya and sharing this and future projects.
Welcome. Show us some pics of that 210. It's OK if it's a little dusty still. We love that stuff here.
Welcome to the HAMB. Thanks for the pictures. A great save, I love old Chevys! This is the best place for some great info. Good luck with your project, and keep us posted. She already looks sweet. Ron...
