Lets start by saying 'Thanks', I've been a long time lurker. I recently picked up a '49 Chevy 3600, 4spd. Very little rust, cab corners & floors have been replaced already. She is a driver, starts right up and purrs like a kitten. At idle it is hard to tell its even running. Only issues it has right now is brakes, a wheel cylinder and a hose is leaking in the front. I'll be tearing it down this weekend to address. Also got a sh*t load of extra parts; Spare 235 block (supposely rebuilt bottom end), everything needed to complete this block, 3 disty's, 2 starters, 2 generators, 4 Carter carbs & 2 unknown carbs, spare 4spd tranny, NOS gasket sets, NOS vac. wiper motor, etc.. The drive home I thought I was gonna lose that visor on the highway, its flimsy and was flapping all around. But it made it home. Home for 2 days and already torn apart, was a tad much on the flat black for my taste. Now deciding between chroming of painting the bumpers and grill.
Hi from Colchester. Yeah, not a big fan of the flat black/ hotrod black thing, it's been too overdone. The brake stuff sounds like an easy fix. I would be nice if the weather cooperates this winter and you get a chance to drive it some.
