Hello folks...Been lurking here for the past three years or so. The experience, the wisdom, the knowledge, the members' cars, even the humor...flat, friggen' amazing. Can't believe I've waited so long to take part in the comradery this group offers. I will try my damnedest to add a positive note every chance I get. I guess I started-out reading 'little pages' and R&C. Hung-out with the big guys down at the corner. First started-out learning how to hold a wrench working on Dad's lawn mower and my bikes. Bought my first car, a '39 Ford, the day Kennedy was shot. Have gone through quite a few old Fords since then, including a period of NCRS-type restorations of several old Corvettes. The politics of that crap finally brought me to the conclusion that that sucked. Finally got back to my first love...old Ford hot rods. Currently headed toward finishing-up a '40 Ford coupe project I bought twelve years ago. This car will essentially end up being a car a guy might have built to go street racing in 1965. On the back burner is a '37 Ford coupe (ORIGINAL patina'd paint) that I bought off of the estate of the original owner in '99. This thing is still driveable with original flathead. The plan here is to keep the original paint and interior, warm flathead, and end up with what a high school kid may have driven in 1952 or so. I-beams and Ford tube axles are among the 'holy grail' to me. No gold chains or checkbook stuff here. I'm 61 and startin' to slow down a little. Planning on retiring from the FAA in relatively short order. But there's still time to get a couple or three more of these things done. Hopefully, we can ALL have some good times on this trip together. I'd like to thank all of you ahead of time, including Ryan, for allowing me the chance to be a small part of this amazing group. Dick
