I finally decided to quit lurking in the background and listen to those who have been telling me that I needed to get more involved on the H.A.M.B. I am the historian for the Fountainhead Antique Auto Museum in Fairbanks, Alaska. Other than driving some great old cars in high school ('55 Chevy pickup, '57 Metropolitan, '65 Chevy Impala), I hadn't paid too much attention to classic cars until I got this job 5 years ago, and I must say I've had a blast since. Not counting three midget racers from the 1930s, the only hot rod we have in the museum in a 1923 Mercury-bodied Model T speedster. Our youngest of the 82 cars in our collection is from 1938. I admit I'm not much of a hot rod fan, but I do love the historical information that is shared in this forum. Not sure if my signature is set to show up, so apologies if this is a duplicate. Welcome Nancy! There is some great stuff here on the "Historical" threads. Seeing your car collection is on my "Bucket List" of things to do, it is one of the finest collections in the country IMO. Bob
Welcome Aboard! I've always, for some reason, figured AK might be a frustrating location for 'wheel' oriented types, just seems like the miles of road [particularly paved] relative to the vastness [sq.mi.] of the place is so small. The 'always looking for a new place to cruise' thing, ...ya know?
