Sorry about yelling but we're a long way away you know. I'm new to the HAMB so be gentle. My daily driver is a beat up 54 Dodge Kingsway Custom sedan. It runs the HiPo version of the flathead six; it has a chrome air filter! I've put a pic of my car here so you all can see what it looks like. It was taken at the Hotrods and Cl***ics Party a couple of years ago. This is the best show in South Australia. On the menu for my car over the next month or so is a heater, frenched headlights, replace the indicators with chrome bullets and relocate the lights to behind the grille, and put a new front screen seal in because mine leaks. So there you are, any questions?
Welcome Louie, from a fellow antipodean. Not only that, I'm a fellow flat sixer! (230 inch Plymouth) We need all the help we can get against these darned Americans! J/K
Are they common in NZ, flat sixes, not Americans? I plan to convert mine to LPG because of the cost of fuel and the fact that its my daily driver. Was going to run 3 small gas mixers straight off the block, so it looks kind of like triples on a GTR XU1. Also plan to build some headers and put on a flame emitting device at the rear of the car. What year is the Plymouth?
Welcome to the HAMB louie you got your work cut out for the next month, my jobs are clean the car and put sunvisors up!
Cheers. I'm havin a week off shortly so the car goes into the garage for a birthday. Yeah, my ride lives outside. I got a pair of mint EH headlight surrounds to french the lights. And my wife wont go cruising unless I get a heater. Truth is, I gotta get a heater because I want to leave the kids home and take her up to inspiration point, wherever that is. We had a few cold mornings over here where we are, in the Adelaide Hills; -5 degrees. I'm about to tell myself I wont go cruising either unless I get a heater.
Hi louie. My Ply is 55 Savoy, not a model you got in Aussie. BTW, the All Blacks are gonna kill the Wallabies this weekend!
Wallabies. Aren't they like little kangaroos? Oh you mean rugby. I'm from Aussie Rules territory. We don't follow league or union much in SA. Its almost a forien sport here for some reason. Don't know why it has never been popular. I know one thing for sure, the Crows are gonna kill the Swans this weekend, I hope... Have you got a pic of your Savoy? We had them here but maybe different. Is yours a Chrysler NZ build or Chrysler Australia build, or was it from the states? Chrysler NZ was a division of Chrysler Australia. I know that in the 60's & 70's they sent parts over in knock-down form and were ***embled there. Not sure where the factory was.
Now now, lets not start talking about the crows. I was at the 97 grand final and nearly cried. Also louie, i know what its like to have your ride sitting outside, I have a 63 chev that sits on the front lawn but I wont invest in a proper paint job until I have somewhere to put it.
My shed's full of camping gear, boat and wife's car. Gotta keep the new wagon out of the weather. You know what new car paint is like. I'm not much into shiney paint jobs. I've got to fill some holes where I stripped the rams head mascot, badge and rear fins off. Mind you, it looks kind of cool with all the holes in the body. After that, some primer till spring. If I decide to two door it and chop it I will go for the suede paint. Otherwise it will stay as is. Maybe I should build a carport.
Bad and mean and mighty unclean, afraid of no-one 'cept the man with the can of mortein. Welcome from the flatlands of Europe.Say hi to Harry, Fred, Dusty, Frank, Al, Mike, Rod and of course the squadron leader. Are they still famous in OZ ?
Welcome to the HAMB from the northern plains of the US. You Auzzies and for that matter all HAMBers from countries other than the US help make this place great. I really like the variety that you guys all bring to us. I know that in many other countries it is really hard to customize a vehicle due to laws and cost. You all have to be really dedicated to this hobby and I want you to know that a lot of us here can't wait to see what you guys are doing. Armstrong
And I took that pic! A cool show the Hot Rods and Cl***ics Party. The guys have always looked after me and my girl so well each time we've been over there, they've kinda become like family. A very cool atmosphere. You'll have to come say hi when I'm over there again this year with my magazines and stuff inside the food hall.
Thanks for the welcome everybody. Pedro, reckon I've already said hi. I'm one of the organisers, Stewart. Your gear is a major attraction at the show now. Let us know in advance if there is anything you'll need while your there. I think you have Len's (red chevy sled) contact number. We've got a really cool T shirt offer this year. GAZ, how do you guys in Holland know about Louie the Fly? He's a folk hero in Australia. I was named after him when I was a kid. It's not my real name though!!!
Just click on the hamb user ID ( left column ) and then view public profile. We have mozies here too. Had two last night. Not bad after a day of 32 celcius.
So what part of our great land are you originally from? I picked it b4 I looked at the profile, soon as you said mozies...
Mornington Penninsula, Rosebud, Tootgarook. Later on moved to Ringwood & Lilydale. All in VIC. I,ll send you a PM which you will see as a small flashing thingy in the top right corner. Just click on it.
Hey Stewart....yeah, I think we have met. Lookin' forward to comin' over again this year....we learnt from the first trip not to follow Len anywhere though, so we stick close to Mike & Tracy Ahrens to make sure we get where we're going!
