Hey all, I just bought a 1939 Ford Standard Tudor Sedan that had some sentimental value to my family. My grandfather owned this car before I was even a thought in my parents mind. I was able to find some documents in our family archives pointing me to the guy who had bought the car when my grandfather passed. After about 12 years of nagging, I was able to buy the car back and surprise my mother. The gentleman I bought the car from had swapped it to Mustang ii front suspension, as well as parallel leaf springs in the back. Seems to me like he was going to make it more of a street rod. I am going to attempt to save the car from this fate and try to build something with more of an old school vibe. Unfortunately for me, this car was taken apart 30 years ago, and I am very unfamiliar with cars of this vintage. I have always been into muscle cars, but lately have started getting into more traditional built hot rods. I have some good sources for small parts so far, however, I would love to find more of a chassis manual with how things go together from the factory. If anyone has some good suggestions as far as literature goes, I am all ears. Additionally, if there is anyone in the New England area with a traditional built 38-40 tudor that wouldn't mind letting me crawl all over it with a camera for reference photos, that would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance, and hopefully I can get this thing up and going within the next couple years. -Aidan
Welcome to the HAMB from Illinois. Congratulations on finding and buying grandpa's old Ford. I'm going to call out several active members from Massachusetts. Hopefully one can help, or has a friend near you who can get you close to a straight axle, late 30's Ford for your education.
