    Hello H.A.M.B.!

My name is John Ward... i'm 27yrs old, and live in Orlando, FL... I'm new to the forum here, but have been building and modifying cars in one way or another for practically my entire life 8)

I was raised around Street Rods and "California Car Culture". My father is a LONG time member of the L.A. Roadster Club (he's in their book), and i've been fascinated by Roadsters and Street Rods for as long as i can remember thanks to him... haha!

Being a kid though in Florida, i got ****ed into the 'Import Scene', and began building some pretty sick setups out of Hondas (much to the dismay of my Father... haha!). These days, i'm getting back to my roots. I partnered with a friends shop here in town that does a lot of high end restoration and performance work, mostly to the 'Muscle Car' era vehicles... but i'm trying to change that :)

I'm not a body guy, but i'll make anything out of steel or aluminum, and am not afraid of a challenge. Here's a look at my shop-space:

Speaking of challenges, I recently went out on a limb and purchased a 1930/31 Model A "thing" off of eBay... lol!

It is a ******* of sorts, and will probably give me more trouble than its worth, but its a start, and thats exactly what i was looking for.... a start. From what i can gather, it is a 'Slant Window' Coupe body (Murray?) that has been converted to a short-cab truck body... Overall in the pics, the body seemed decent enough to at least buy and experiment with...

In the end, i'd like something that has this look to it, but with the 'grace' that only a truck can give :D :

The plan: (at least there IS one, eh?... haha!)
Mostly, the plan is to keep it all mostly Ford... The ch***is is going to be scratch-built.... i'm working on the cad drawings for all the frame pieces, and it'll have them CNC cut out, and then start jigging them up for welding.

The motor will be a 2.0L Zetec motor out of a Focus... it'll be slightly strengthened, and the setup will be "mildly" turbocharged I'm trying to decide if i'm going manual or auto on this... i WANT manual, but if the footwell area is going to be too small for comfortable and safe pedal operation, then i will go auto so that i have more foot room and be safer with it.

Also, to make matters more exciting, i'm planning for it having a/c as well (i'm in Florida afterall)... should be quite the interesting little project though, and at least unique in a small way with what body it is :)

If anyone has anymore insight or indeas as to what this body -really- is, please let me know... i'm also trying to find a visor for it if anyojne has one. If not, i guess it'll be the first panel i get to make from scratch for it... haha!

Hey Flea....welcome to the forum, so what part of Orlando you parked in? I use to live over in the old section by the Navel Base there, north of the mall. Just off of old winter park road and corrine dr. Nice area to live. Anyways, you have a good start and a very nice shop to work out of, good luck.

Thanks guys! Yea, i think it'll be pretty sharp when its done :)

Max: I'm actually just outside of Orlando in a city called Maitland. I know the Navy base though.... but the base is now torn down, and replaced almost entirely by housing and subdivisions... its weird.
