Been lurking here for some time. Recently purchased a 1950 silverstreak. Have some questions and need some basic help lol . The car is a project but I'm ready . Hoping to start a build thread in near future . Thanks ,AL

 

Hi & welcome. What are your plans? Looks like interior piled high with parts & boxes. Are you going to keep it original or modify? Is it going to be daily driver, show car or racer?
If original is the answer if the bod7 & paint is no worse than what I see on trunk and along left quarter & would remove & buff the chrome and buff & wax the heck out of the paint and keep total original look. If you have major body or rusts then that changes that idea.
You can even get new interiors to match original from Lebaron Bonney but they ain't cheap.

Welcome. I agree with ol-no bull. Keep it simple and as original as possible. I have a 48 chevy fleetline fast back, like yours. Similar condition. Back burner for now, but that's my plan as well.
Go to Jay Leno's garage site. He covers a 48 Olds that was kept original in appearance and patina, but over the top with modern mods. Big bucks but gives you an idea what is possible with these cars.

Thanks ,Jimmie . The original 8 is missing . I plan to make a mild custom . Redo stock interior . Wish I could just add wax lol. Previous owner started some questionable bodywork on the front . Trunk ,floor and rockers are solid . Interior is there with rodent damage . Build thread hopefully coming soon . Thanks fellas
