How's it going? I run a custom upholstery shop in El Cajon, and will be here to potentially pass on some knowledge, gain some knowledge, and speak with some like-minded individuals. Glad to be a part of the community!
Hi & welcome. Upholstery questions do come up here now & then and another voice on the subject will help. Not saying anything is wrong with who has responded in the past. My 46 Chevy 5 passenger Sport Coupe was rear ended in May and will be going into the shop to repair that damage in a week or so. Before the wreck I was needing some wind lace & hidem to replace what is there. Previously a shop installed a new complete wire loom and all wiring to the rear was behind headliner on drivers side. It had homemade windlace & hidem from previous owner from 1990 and did not fit good anyway. After being removed and reinstalled it really looks sloppy. After I get the car out of body shop I will want to fix this problem. The car has a set of very pale green seat covers & has the Aqua loop carpet from Le Baron Bonney and I will be looking for some foam core cloth windlace and a wide hidem in similar color, Aqua or Torquoise. Le Baron Bonney has this but will not sell it unless I purchase a complete headliner kit and I do not want that. I will have to go measure as I am not certain that the fold down hidem will be wide enough to cover what is needed & I may need that to also be a foam core hidem. Am I on the right path or do you suggest something else? Looking for someone to source me the material. needed. Jimmie
So sorry it's taken so long to reply. The windlace goes on first, then the headliner gets stapled/attached over the windlace, close to the rounded portion, the hidem/wireon gets installed to cover the staples/tacks in the headliner. LeBaron doesn't just sell the windlace. If you can't locate it, give me call or email 6194499172 (landline) info@customupholstery.net hope this helps!
