Hi, I live in a small town of about 250 people 30 miles inland from the central Oregon coast. I am a ford man and in my county those are pretty rare (making parts hard to find!) I just started my 1954 customline a week ago and am turning it into a gasser. I have had it for a year in the shop and couldn't decide to slam it or make it a gasser. With 2 of my friends just starting there gasser builds the choice was obvious (nothing beats some friendly completion) I bought the car all stock w/o motor and trans. I have a 67 gt 390 that I am putting in it and am leaving today to the valley to get a 91 Comanche 2wd straight axle. I plan on running a c-6 behind it and a 91 explorer 8.8 limited slip rear. the jeep axle was originally coil sprung and I will weld spring perches on it. I have always gone to this site for great information and with this build I decided it was time to join. I have never built a gasser but have always loved them. Most of my builds are Air ride or static drops and I use to be into lifting trucks. I have always loved old cars and have had at least 2 at all times since I was 14. I have bad add and lose interest in projects fast but once I start I am compelled to keep going as long as the parts are available.
Thanks, I will definitely post pictures as I go I should have it done in about 2-3 months. My favorite car show in oregon is the function for junction in junction city. If you have never been its like a mini hot August nights where they have a show then they shut down highway 99 and its 4 lanes of classics cruising for hours! I looked up the show in seaside bandit billy, is it the wheels and waves. We take our daughter's to Astoria every summer and will have to plan around it. It looks like a good show. My buddy's and I plan on bringing them on as many shows as we can.
Wheels and Waves is a good event in Seaside, and you can drive a few miles up the coast, across the Megler bridge the same weekend and take in the "Rod Run To The End Of The World" in Longbeach/Oceanshores, WA. Makes for a fun weekend. The Wheels and Waves is limited to 64 and older to register, Longbeach is anything that moves can participate.
