Hey Everyone, I guess I've been a bad boy and I posted on the board before doing an introduction...Please forgive me! I'm new to this whole rodding thing, however, I've always been inspired by the rodding "style" for my other projects (i.e. motorcycles, bicycles, etc.). I just recently picked up a 1954 Ford Customline 4-door which I love! It's funny because everywhere I drive the car, there's always somebody there to make a comment or who wants to talk about old cars. I think it's great! I plan on painting the car some shade of "suede"--right now it's a taxi cab yellow, and I plan on lowering it. Since I don't have much money to put into it, I'm looking to do everything myself and as cheaply as possible, while being safe and "reliable". I look forward to learning from all of your experience! Thanks! Frederick
...i saw that one on craiglist a lil while back..was it a 272 or 292 y block...???....i got a 4dr 55 customline that is fun as hell with tons of options to custom it....enjoy and here's a good website for parts when you can't find em anywhere else... concourparts.com lochlancoffin
Welcome! I, too, saw that rig on craigslist. And I can also vouch for the radness of Concoursparts.com. Cheers,
Thanks for the welcome Guys! I'm having a lot of fun with this car! I've always owned vehicles with a strong "cult" following (i.e. Jeeps, Corvettes, Harleys) where people will wave or stop you and talk to you about the vehicle, but I've never experienced the same type of enthusiasm as I do with this car. Seems like I can't stop anywhere without someone coming up and talking about how they used to drive a car like mine, knew somebody who drove a car like mine, would like a car like mine.....It's great! So far, I've cut the front springs 2 coils and lowered the rear with 3" blocks. I'm still waiting for my 4" drop springs for the rear from Jamco. Plus, when the rain finally lets up, I'm gonna paint her. Actually, can anybody recommend a body shop in the Bay Area that won't quote me a ridiculous price for fixing the area behind my rear fenders (lots of Bondo)? It seems like the generic quote I get from guys is $3000-$5000. That can't be right....Or is that reasonable? If so, I guess I'll be doing all that body work myself.......
