    What's up,

My name is Rutledge and I work for SPEED. I travel to all the NASCAR races and try to get people to have fun with me. It's a great time....I love my job.

But when I'm home, and I have time, I love to play with my cars. My favorite one lead me to HAMB.

It's a 1953 Plymouth Suburban Wagon 2 door. Straight car, runs great, and I love it.

I'm exicted about the boards, so thanks for having me. If we have any NASCAR fans that make it out to some of the races, please let me know so I can try to say hello.

Well 1st .... welcome to a great forum!

    2nd
Do You know who I would email at the Speed Channel along with a very large number of other viewers to B@T@H about what they did with their coverage at Barrett-Jackson on Saturday.
Not that I'm sure they really care.
But they cut for a commercial on one of the most unusual cars. Hype all week, great position on the floor all week, GM stylists all over it and when it came its turn to roll center stage Speed cut for a commercial.
I'm talking about the Pontiac Club De Mer, man Speed screwed that car out of its 3 minutes of fame.

Not B@tching at you personally, but I would love to email them just so I'd feel better.

I actually heard a similar story from someone at SPEED, so I'm sure it wasn't planned that way by any means. But, I totally understand why you'd be mad. I was working in Daytona, so I missed it totally.

I'll see if I can find out who to email. Most of the time, all the good news like that gets delivered on the forum at speedtv.com

It really was a bum rap for the CLM. To add insult to injury for me, I had the Lap Top set up with the live cam going JUST IN CASE that happened ... ha,
So we all huddled around the lap top to view the live cam and we did see the CDM roll center stage they panned into the drivers face and either my lap top STALLED or the live cam STALLED and it just got stuck on the drivers face. It was a double conspiracy.
The builder is a good friend of ours, it was that I needed to see the car, but I sure wanted to see what happened live.

Hey welcome to the Hamb. I like the SPEED channel, I haven't had it for 3 or 4 years, but just got it back. I still like it but I think it has changed since I have been gone, but maybe its just the time of year. I for one would like to see more vintage stuff, and more about the history of motor sports.

Great car. Once owned a '51 Chevy station wagon and loved it. Your suburban is way cool and in GREAT shape. If I owned it and was you, I'd paint and letter it as if it were either a '50s TV network vehicle or a '50s NASCAR team tow vehicle.

FYI: I've got a brother-in-law in your biz (exec producer NBC Sports). What's your position with Speed?

Thanks everybody... I'm excited to be a part of it. I have lurked for a while, and finally decided to join and try to contribute.

Gasserguy - I am on-air for SPEED. You can usually find me running around one of the NASCAR tracks having fun, either on a NASCAR Live show, or our big pre-race show that I'm on called NASCAR Raceday, Built By the Home Depot. I really love my job.

EnginePro- Let me know before the Kansas race if you guys are going to be out tailgating and I'll do my best to come by... maybe I can ever help get you guys some goodies :)

And for everyone else, I got my new water pump put on yesterday from Kanter. Car drives great... I just wish they had included a gasket with my thermostat so I could use it, but oh well. I'll get one I'm sure.

For this week, I'm trying to get the wheels spray painted and my new BFG WWW's mounted before I have to head out of town.

Welcome to the HAMB, bud. Cool wagon.

Yep, in my day job I run marketing and motorsports for Raybestos Brakes -- Official Brakes of NASCAR. I'll be down for Daytona weekend (Thurs - Sun) and also for a Raybestos Rookies press event on Media Day, so we should meet for a beer and swap lies when you're off the clock.

PM me if interested. Enjoy the HAMB. And make plans now to drive your wagon up to our club's show in October: www.hunnertcarpileup.com

    Welcome to the HAMB.

I have a question for you.

Speed had a program about Old Yeller #2 some time ago.

In that program there were some old Black & White pics used.

Could you point me in the right direction to who owns those pics,
so I could try and buy a Photo from them?

    Thank you very much...

Ha ha... Yep. That's me :)

I'm not totally sure just yet. I'm 28 and have owned somewhere around 37 or 38 cars, and for the first time, I have one I don't want to sell. So my state of how I think about cars has had to change a little bit.

I was talking to Ryan Newman last week about it because he has a 53 Cranbrook that he loves, and he has an extra aluminum head that he said he'd sell me, so I guess that's a possibility.

I'm by no means trying to hot rod it by any stretch of the imagination. I just want to be able to drive it... a lot. The new BFG WWW's should make it on this week, but with a 7month old baby girl, that's always a crap shoot.

Ideally, get it painted, keep my eyes peeled for a nice 318 somewhere with an auto tranny, and then disc brakes up front and lower it all around. I really love the car.

Once it gets closer to done, maybe I can share the story of how I came to own it.

I am looking for a driver's side rear view mirror, so if anyone with a cranbrook or anything else from 53 should have one, PLEASE PM Me since I don't want to just slap on some universal ones.

Thanks again for all the hello's.

And Raybestos guy, I'll pm you and try to find you at the track !

Great question and if anyone has stuff like this, I'm happy to help.

But could you give me a little more info. Do you remember if this was a stand alone show, or part of a series ?

Were there other cars shown in it? Any idea roughly of when you saw it?

That will help me try to figure out who to talk to about it.

    Rut
