Stumbled on to this site and have been lurking for a while and thought it was time to join. I'll admit right up front that I don't own a pre-64 traditional rod. . . yet. Plastic models will have to suffice for now. I think of them as 3-D concept renderings for future projects.
I have a collection of iron rusting in the yard. The oldest is a 1948 LJT Mack with a 707ci gas engine similar to a rig my grandfather drove. (I like to tell the "DUB" crowd that my grandfather rolled on 24's before they were born.) There is an early '70's land yacht and pickup in the mix as well.
I design machinery and tooling for a major auto parts supplier during the day and at night I work on ag/construction equipment at a friend's shop. We have a small machine shop for rebuilding engines and that is why I help him out. I rebuilt the engine for my pickup there and I'm proud of the fact that I did all of the machining on my engine myself except for the crank.
I hope to be able to contribute here and there as a guy with an engineering education who actually puts it to practical use everyday.

    Hey Matt,

I'm another newbie here as well but I thought I'd welcome you aboard since I grew up in Trumansburg! Enjoy yourself - the HAMB is a great place and extremely helpful.

    Take care,
    Marc

    Ithaca here,
I was talking to a buddy of mine from back home (Missouri) and I mentioned that I don't see a lot of old cars sitting around in this are since they all rusted out, and he said "yeah I saw a post from a guy on this HAMB site from NY whose name was rusty machine." Funny coincidence.
