Hi I found this forum and figured it would be a great one to join. Im 17 and Im building a 1962 Ranchero on an extreme budget where Im doing everything by myself and with friends. Im custom making pretty much all the parts that I didnt have so I dont have to buy new parts. I started on it at the end of summer in 2010. It was stripped of paint and in pieces and falling apart. I now have the body work done and its painted. The interior is also in now and its coming together. Its just a little hot rod build. Its my first build so Im learning as I go. Im sure I'll have to be asking you guys lots of questions. If all goes to plan I'll be driving the car before I get out of high school this spring. As of now its on track for spring, Im not trying to make it look perfect but I want to be able to look at it and say I did that when I was 17. Its a great hobby, I love cars. Well thanks, many posts to come.
Great attitude about what's really important. Welcome to the H.A.M.B. firstnomad www.angelfire.com/jazz/flatlandstudio
I'm from Carrollton, Ohio. Here are some picture of the interior and exterior. The interior was gone when I started, its coming along though. I made the door panels and the next project will probably be making a new seat cover since new ones cost $300+. Im making everything myself, I had to redo some wiring under the dash because it was extremely ghetto rigged. Its fixed now. I did all the body work and painted it a single stage paint color of dark candy apple red metallic. In the picture the front has 1 1/4 coils cut. I don't know how far it lowered it. Im working on the frame and leaf springs in the back now. I saved money on leaf springs by using the stock main leaf and a set of add a leafs that came from a bronco 2. I made them work. I'll update as i move along with more progress. Oh and for the wheels one of my friends is going to powder coat them pretty soon, mirror black.
Thanks guys, I was gonna satin black the front bumper today but instead i sanded and polished the remaining chrome and what was underneath looked like copper? I thought it would look cool just to shine all that up instead, I think it looks pretty cool the way it is now. Just like other picture but its alot shinier now.
