I have a 48 Stylemaster with a 1954 235 in it. The transmission is shot and I am thinking about an early T5. I have read until I am blue and my eyes are crossed. A lot of what I read is older info before a lot of these plates and adapters came out. What I am looking for is an up-to-date step by list of what I need and where to get it, from the recommended ratio trans for this car and engine power to the clutch and what rear end I need to look for to be the correct width. I am not looking for the cheapest but the BEST way to do it. Any links would be helpful.

Also, if anyone has a good stock 41-48 car transmission let me know.

Thanks for the input but not the information I am seeking.

  4. Tom Langdon is by far the best resource for this conversion. Tom is the guy behind Langdon's Stovebolt, however the T-5 is not specifically a Stovebolt part. Please contact him direct at info@langdonsstovebolt.com or 586-739-9601

Im doing the same conversion. .. all I did was grab a late 50's truck bell housing and the T5 bolted right up. Im also running a nova rearend. Everything been smooth so far.
I also have a 48 fleetline rebuilt three speed trans, if your still interested
