help 1951 lincoln motor

howdy, can anyone help me explain the diff between a 51 linclon flathead and a 51 ford flat head????????????i have a 51 linclon motor and trans that i want to sell but i cant really answer the questions also does anyone know where the id numbers are? in the frt there is a flat spot but no numbers...........thanks flyn... i have grenaded a motor before does that help me be a inspector?

If possible, Get yourself a copy of the 1949 TO 51 VOLUME 1 LINCOLN MERCURY OVERHAUL MANUAL and you will have all the info you need re: differences between the two. For starters, almost no parts are interchangaeable and the lincoln has hydraulic lifters. Ford and Merc don't. The only thing in common with both engines is that both are flatheads.

it als has hyd lifters yes a in a FH !!!

 

Plus, like LINCOLN has a whole bunch more letters in it than FORD does

 

hey man,I know what your going thru with this motor.I didn't know much about flatheads except that they look cool and fits the car i'm building[30 ford raodster truck]not knowing the difference I bought a 50'lincoln flathead complete with ****** and running out of a cosmopolitin,I got it for a good deal so I can't complian.It would be nice if I could find a 3deuce intake,some heads would be nice but from what heard there is no aftermarget parts avalible.I bought a 29'coupe to build up and I'm gonna just clean it up and paint it,I don't think I answered your question but i just wanted to talk to someone else with this motor,and if anyone else would reads this knows where some aftermarket parts are please let me know. thanks
