i have 2 holley 94s going on a 4 brl manifold motor is stock 350 chev with lakestyle headers do i need a mechanical dist.? what main jets? what power valves?
If you are at or near sea level, start with the stock #51 jets, and drop to 4.5 or 5.5 power valves. Make sure both carbs are the same. Run straight linkage. and take time to sync the carbs properly. Don't expect any power increases, as two 94's flow about the same (300-350 cfm) as a later Holley or Rochester 2 V carb. It's just gonna look cool! Bob
I forgot to address the distributor-hook it up to manifold vacuum, not the loadamatic port(s) on the rear of the 94's, if so equiped. I am running dual 94's on a flathead, so I do have some backround with multi 94's. Bob
This is good information! In the FWIW category, this setup is a tad smaller than a STOCK 4-barrel on a 265. You are going to seriously hurt the power on a 350. Not saying don't do it; but suggesting you install a temperature gauge (NOT AN IDIOT LIGHT) and watch it closely until you are certain you have enough carburetion to not hurt the engine in the RPM ranges you run. Jon.
I ran 2 94's on a vitage speed "y" adapter with lake headers. I used stock jets and a Mallory unilite with mechanical advance. I don't remember what the jet numbers are but the spark plugs looked great and I got around 15mpg.
Im thinking of doing this as well, tired of trying to find a three duece intake not made of gold, and everyone is running them now so it will be a little different. I have heard of guys running multi carb intakes with 97 and blocking all off but two so I cant see why it wont work, but like you I need to know what jets to start with. thought about saving a headache and buying adjustable jets. $40 a carb is a little steep, but wont have to pull the carbs off and apart any could prove to be priceless. Anyone on here used them before?
Supposedly the 2 bl on Ford's 351C-2V is rated @ only 350 CFM & it seems to do all right. In theory you need about 550 CFM.
If you can find two, grab a pair of Holley AA-1's from a GMC 302 inline. They have larger venturi (1-1/4") than the 94's and they have GM- style linkage. They otherwise look exactly like Ford 94's and they take the same jets and power valves. They can be hard to find, though.
