Help 34 ford hood sides or not

I've always liked the hood sides on full fendered coupes.

I have a 34 5 window and would like to know how you hold the upper hood panels down

 

I'm fabbing up a latch set-up for my hood tops. I'm using a spring-loaded steel rod in the original hinge for the hood sides. The rod will go into a small bracket mounted on the grill shell. I'm not overly concerned about latching the back - she aint goin' no where...

I'll post pics when it's done.

Dig it w/sides!!!

 

I vote "No Sides" (and preferably no hood). There's something gutteral, inexpected and "hot rod" about an exposed motor. And leaving off the sides in an "unexpected manner" (33-34 does look swoopier with the sides on) just ads to the mechanical feel of a hot rod.
