Anyone have experience with rear wheel size on 40 ford truck. Stock frame, 10 bolt/leaf suspension and stock rear fenders. Can you use a 8" wheel?
    Thanks

I have a set of 15x8's on the back of my 40. The tire size is 235/70/15. It is running a Maverick Grabber 8" rear end. No clearance problems inside or out.

When I got the truck it had a Nova rear end in it and I ran these wheels then as well. The previous owner had the pinion angle way high so it was easier to just replace the whole thing. I did notice that the center line for the axle snubber puts the wheels about 1/2" to the front of the fenders. I corrected that when I put the Maverick in to center the wheels to the opening.

I have 15X7 on the rear with 225/70/15 tires mounted on a stock width '40 banjo rearend. In order to run an 8" wheel you will need to go to an early mustang rearend that is slightly narrower than stock. That will give you the room you need to run an 8" wheel.

YEP narrower rear end or wheels with more backspace.

I run 15x8 on mine with (currently) P265/75R15 tires. Previously had P285/70R15. I run 4.5 backspacing (zero offset), and while it is a little close, I've never had any noticeable rub after I installed the panhard bar.
