so sorry.... as Scotty @ Chuckles said you are welcome up here anytime for anything! as i read your story it seems to me as if it has to be somebody 'we' know... too planned, too cocky. if you could put more info on what was taken we can keep our eyes open at swaps and such.

  2. I completely understand. when you need it every cent counts. Food for thought, the PI I know will get started on a case for real cheap. You only pay for results.

  3. You have to have seperate insurance on the contents of your shop it is not covered by your regular insurance its not like home owners. The insurance it takes is very expensive and it is hard to establish values on rare and hard to find parts that the insurance company will except.I know this because I am a shop owner and have my building covered but not the contents because it is too expensive.

Exactly, they will not cover "custom" vehicles or rare vehicles because there is no way they can know how much this stuff is worth. There would have to be a appraisal done for each vehicle in the shop and it would have to be updated as work was done to the vehicle. That's what the insurance rep. told me.

I know how you feel. My antique business was robbed a couple summers ago. Got away with about 3 grand worth of stuff but every penny means something. I hope they get the scumbags that took your stuff and give you a few minutes with a big stick alone in a room with them. I'll see what I can do to help you out.....

  8. Hey, Johnny,
You need to post all the missing stuff, ASAP. the HAMB is huge and we are everywhere. Let us look at our local swaps. Make it real hard to get rid of this stuff. List real good descriptions and make it easy from us to read. Like This:

#1. Buick Riv and all that makes it identifiable. Be Detailed.

#2. Double space this stuff so, if we see something we might suspect, we can compare easily.

    #3, ......

Maybe start it's own thread. I'd be willing to print that list and take it with me. I bet lots of us would. Good luck.

Let the cops know you have hoodlum friends online that are rumbling about taking the law into their own hands... that might be just enough to motivate them into action... :D:D:D

These are the pictures I have right now, the first one is my buddy Mikes bike, still a project. It has a "Pandemonium" style aftermarket panhead engine from CCI in it.

The second on is my bike. Also custom built panhead engine that I built.

The sporty is the third bike, it now has spoke wheels with aluminum sunrims on it and and performance brakes. I hope I have a picture of it when it was finished, I'm looking for one. It has Buell thunderstom heads on it, Buell pistons, new cylinders, a Storz inverted fork made by Ceriani, Supertrapp exhaust system, Storz footcontrolls, Arlen Ness handcontrolls, S&S carb. The last picture shows the paintjob and the hand controlls. I have a lot of pictutes of this bike because I would update the customer per E-mail every time there was some progress.

The Rivi was a bone stock '63 Rivi, nothing special about it at all.

  11. That '50 Plymouth that they killed the battery on was ours! Although I was happy to hear our car was not stolen, I'm sick as hell thinking about what Johnny, his wife, and the other customers are going through right now. I'll try to get some money together to send Johnny's way soon and encourage our community to come together to help him get back on his feet and working again. If you don't know Johnny, he is one of the nicest, most honest and hardworking guys out there.

So sorry to hear that. I might know of a PI in the area that can help you out. He is a friend of a friend and I am not sure of his specialties. but I will check it out none the less. Wish I had something more to contribute. I really hope all works out for you. I know it is hard to think psoitive about the whole thing but everything happens for a reason. Sometimes that reason is unclear or goes unknown but I firmly belive that everything happens for a reason. maybee a terrible accident would have happened if you would have went to work. who knows but with the determination you have put forth to get here I know you will keep on truckin.

as a shop owner , it alwyas troubles me to see these kinda threads.

its tough enough to make a living without having people rip off your tools, let alone prodjects. it will take years to recover from an event like this.

i am pleased to read that there were camaeras. at least soon you will have knowledge of who it was, and that is priceless

one thing to look into is if any U-Haul trucks were stolen in the area recently. a while back I was at the local U-haul and the fence was all mowed down. I asked the guy working there what happened and he told me someone stole a truck and drove it right through the fence, then went and ripped off a place just like what happened to you. the truck was stolen from Fremont, not sure where the theft took place. this was a year ago or so.

    fuckers.

Yeah, that's one thing the cops said as well, they will investigate to see if there was a U-haul truck stolen somewhere.

    Johnny-

I have tools and nice toolboxes for you to borrow as long as you need. Probably some extras/ doubles you can just have too. If you get up to Oakland, swing by and I'll show you what I've got... Take what you need!

I've talked to a lot of people in the last few days, some who contacted me and a few that I contacted, a lot of them have connections and are putting out the word. Two or three of them seem to be very well connected and think they will be able to get to the bottom of this. It's surprising to find out how fast the news of what has happened has traveled and what type of people are willing to help and are pissed off about what happened, people who are not even directly involved with the car/hotrod scene. I hope all this leads to finding out who did this and at least gets my customers vehicles back. I would like to get my bike back as well but at this point I need to get my shop up and going again and figure out how to finance that. I can always build another bike some time in the future. I feel so bad for the customers who lost their vehicles because of this. I know and I think you guys know that there is a much deeper connection to a custom car/bike than to a daily driver Honda/BMW/Chevy/Ford. You dream about a vehicle like this, emagine how it's gonna be when you drive it the first time, think about the road trips you're gonna take with it a.s.o. and then for somebody to just take it away is pure evil!
