So I Bought a shoebox from a guy on ebay out of L.A. auction said some rust in trunk and a little around quarters. when it showed up So bad I cant even describe but I will try.
A SKIN HAS BEEN WELDED ON OVER quarters and rockers on both sides then skimmed and painted so 20 feet away or in pictures it looks good. inner rockers cut out and you can put your hand in between original body and new crap. I am sure this makes little since but am so mad Im sick.
So I did the whole ebay buyer protection and we will see what they do, has any one used this buyer protection before?

Generally speaking, as long as you got your product you're hosed. You have to get something completely different (buy a boat, get a phonebook) before they usually help out. "not as described" treads into opinionated territory that can be litigated in court as opinion only and you actually getting the order you made and the item offered. Ebay isn't getting that deep in it.

I have dealt with ebay buy protection before, but never on something as expensive as a car. Other than a $25 "processing fee", I got all of my money back. How much does it say that you are protected to on the auction page? Is it greater than you paid?

Yeah, I would never buy a car I can't touch myself. Even then I've bought a few turds.

Is the car worth NOWHERE near the money you paid for it?

  8. Oh that just sucks!! That's why I could never buy a car without seeing it in person.

    Good luck.

i would have went and looked at it..or had someone go look at it for you before finalizing the deal

  10. I would not put any faith in egay's so-called "buyer protection program". I've never had first hand experience with that, but I'm betting they'll say "tough $hit, hire a lawyer". Hate to sound pessimistic here, but with you being in WA and the seller in CA, you probably are stuck with what you have.

I do vehicle inspections for buyers that are looking at cars in OK, as a part-time thing. There are vehicle inspection businesses that are very reputable out there. It might cost you anywhere from $300 to $500 to get one inspected, but if you are spending good money, it's great insurance for YOU, the buyer. You will normally get upwards of 100 pictures of every possible area of the car you can think of, plus the inspector gets under the car and takes pics there, also. Evey leak, weak spot, and bad area (as well as the good) that can be reasonably accessed are documented in an inspection.

Guys, if you can even get a friend or relative that lives close-by to look at it with unbiased eyeballs, that's better than nothing, believe me!

i got screwed over one time from a dealer out of the black hills, S. Dakota,,,completely misrepresented the car,,,,i was pissed off,,but more pissed off at myself for taking his word,,,figured he was in business and had a reputation to keep..(didnt realize at the time it was a BAD reputation),,i basically got screwed over for $3000 by the time i paid shipping and sold it at a LOSS,,,,,,,,,

Careful on ebay. The first question I asked before I bid was "Are the wheels perfectly straight?" I was assured they just came off a running motorcycle and were perfectly straight. When I got them the wheel bearings were rusted and both of the wheels bent. Both wobbled. Ebay checked all of the correspondence and SOMEHOW voted with the seller and refused to help me any further. I offered to take the wheels to any cycle shop to have them checked. I only lost $450.
    Good Luck.

Paid $3200 for it plus 800 for shipping. the thing that sucks is that I just sold my beautiful truck on ebay to the drummer of queens of the stone age for $10500 so I could build this shoebox. a few years ago I would have been on a plane by now.

Pretty sure this gent had a prior complaint on him of misrepresenting something he was selling. (I was actually looking at the same Shoebox.)

Like most said, unless it was grossly misrepresented, your f'ed. I've dealt with the complaint dept. before. They were less that helful. Luckily it wasn't a car.

I've never used the buyer protection, but my car was just as bad except the body was fine and the mechanical compenents were shot. Had to rebuild and or replace everything under the hood. Anyway I hope you get the problem straghtened out and your money back.
