One bright spot is if it runs at all, and the rest of the car seems OK, you might be in decent shape. Granted, you've got what I would consider a retail price in a (presumably) running project car, but it might work out your way in the end. Karma definitely has a way of coming back on shit-for-brains sellers like you've had the displeasure of encountering.

I knew the motor was crap, but the body was supposed to be straight, mechanical is easy, its what I do, body is easy thats what I do but if you guys were here to see this, it been done intentionally to hide rust and problems making the problem huge, if they had spent as much time fixing it as they did hiding it it would be ok

If you do get your money back, you will still be out the 8 bills to ship it to you. I would re-list it on Craigslist or work on the car and sell it on ePay in early summer for 8g's and make a little coin for your hard earned work and learn from a lesson of your past.

I tell ya what man, a lot of people have started with worse. $3,200 + ship may be too much to start out at, but you'll just have to cut a little in the build and come up even at the end. Good luck with it. F* that seller and get to building it. You can't pay for the sanity you'll save by dusting his ass off your mind and getting to work on it.

bought 3 from ebay only the old Bronco was worse than told,,and the one was close enough to look at..I think safe rule of thumb when you over $1000 go look at it,,less your buying a part car

Most guys that pull shit like that are not car guys, they are just trying to make a quick $$$$$$$$$$. They know all you can do is give them negative feedback. Some people suck.

Happened to me also. I have sold cars sight unseen, and all of the buyers were satisfied. The first time I trust a description from an auction I get taken. Mine is a 51 Ford. Then the guy joins the H.A.M.B. calling himself a car guy "been around cars all my life." My car is a death trap. First thing I noticed that was a problem was it stopped on the ramp coming out of the transport trailer. The lowering blocks were not so bad but when you steal the tires that were on the auction and put really small tires on to lower it even more, it bottomed out. The driver was lucky I didn't run him over. He was lifting up on the rear bumper and told me to try it. The clutch and brake were screwed up; when your foot hits the brake it also hits the gas. I was able to keep from pining him under the car. Never again will I trust anyone's description until I can look it over then sometimes you still miss some things. All of the glass except the rear window, and one section of the windshield is broken.

    2x4 under body.jpg
2X4 under door seal plate both sides rotted plus floors.

    another carb gas leak.jpg
    Leaking carb that was rebuilt???

    back seat.jpg
Back seat that needs to be upholstered.

    gas tank box covering electrical.jpg
Didn't mention gas tank in trunk. Flame thrower coils under box.

    twenty seven.jpg
no mention of body rust let alone holes.

sucks man, I found my shoebox here on the hamb, was some guy that had only posted in the forsale section. he wanted 4500 or a trade.. said the body was ok only needed a few little patches no big deal, motor was rebuilt merc flathead.. rebuilt 3 speed tranny.. no interior and some story how it was one of the first 13 custom chop shoeboxes at the kkoa meet. 99% of what he told me was bullshit.. car needs complete floors, both rockers, both quarters ,engine never been rebuilt, tranny is just as bad. I traded him a 68 triumph hardtail bobber I built.. I actually felt guilty cause he kept callign when he got home cause the bike wouldnt run.. then I started to dig into the car and well..I didnt get a great deal.. but its something I always wanted and Im damned if Im going to give it up now. If ebay doesnt work out for you, sit back make a list of all the things it does need..floors quarters rockers and such.. then make a list of the things you want to do with the car.. you might find out your not that bad off, then again you might.. I figured in the end,I had 2 grand tied up in the chopper.. so I keep looking at it is I broke even.. hopefully you arnt to far off after looking around at what some of the prices are going for now..

I bought my Bomb off of a used car/salvage yard dealer on e-bay. His discriprtion was accurate. He said it was very rusted and needed everything!!!..... I bought it anyway for $400.00
The floors were shot, the frame was shot and I didn't even mess with the engine and trans (sold that Here on the H.A.M.B) but, I was warned of all of this. I would never do it again if I can't see the car or go look at .

I'm not criticizing you. Actually I admire you for paying before you saw the car, that's notable, shows your good faith in humanity. In the long run you will be rewarded for your trust in your fellow man.

This note is for other people that might consider paying for anything over a couple of hundred bucks sight-unseen. I bid on the car, if I win the auction, I'm on a flight the next day to pick it up or reject it. I wouldnt release any money until I've inspected the car. On ebay, witholding payment for any purchase for a period up to about a week is acceptable. Buying a car sight-unseen is not good business, on or off ebay.

Why do I say that? Because I don't trust myself to keep a level head if I were ripped off. My next impulse would to get on a flight and go there to rip off some body parts. That could be bad for me, because I'm too old to be spending any time in the slammer.

about 10 years ago, i bought a 69 nova ss, car looked killer til i got it , don't even think it was the same car as in the picture. called the ky. state police, knew the guy was a beater,he picked up the car with cash 3 days later, but lost the shipping. never bought another without either seeing it myself or having it looked at by someone. let me go on record by saying if anyone here needs a car looked at in ct. within reasonable distance, i will be more than happy to check it out for you. (unless i check your profile and your a dickhead too!)

Rule Number 1: Never exchange money for a car you have not looked over closely yourself or been looked over closely buy a trusted 3rd party.

Rule Number 2: See Rule Number 1.

    Sorry dude.

Good luck with the Ebay dispute process. I had a dispute for a small amount of money, nowhere even close to you, for an item I bopught on Ebay and used Paypal on. Buyer protection blah, blah. Scumbag never shipped the part, made up some BS excuses and I filed a dispute. They found in my favor and since the guy had NO MONEY in his paypal account I didn't get anything through the dispute process. They gave me some "best effort" BS in their attempts at recovery.

I said ok, fine. Found the scumbags wife's work email, he used her name for the paypal address, after searching around. Sent an email to the Paypal address and her work address stating they needed to send me my money or I would contact her employer.
All of a sudden the guy could return an email, after threatening me with the "I have your address" I sent him HIS address and said you have until 9:00 am Monday for my money to show up or I make the phone call. It showed up at 3 pm on Sunday. :)

Sorry to hear about it, however Ebay sucks. I got burned by unscrupulous sellers in the past. If I were younger, I would say lets go get the phucker. However I also believe in Karma. I suggest 6 or 12 cans of sorrow then buy a set of quarters and rockers and fire up the welder.

Now that we are on the subject....

I basically make a living off of selling on Ebay, and I try my hardest to make sure the buyer is getting what they are expecting. However, alot of people`s ideas are different then other people`s ideas of what is good or bad...or how something was fixed or patched. For example....a seller might say that a car has new floor pans...and when you realize that he meant it has galvanized metal screwed over rust holes...it`s too late. Make sure both of you are on the same-page,ask questions...you can never ask too many!!!

I too recently have been reminded how unreliable Ebay/PayPal`s dispute process is. I was burned over a set of wheels. The seller said they were 15x6.5 and good solid wheels. Well when I got them they were only 5.5" wide and two were rusted so bad there were holes in them. I was unable to get a good picture of the damage as-is so I bead blasted them to get a better picture of the damage.

I was then told I was not entitled to a refund because I modified the wheels. I am still not sure how I created 40 years worth of rust and narrowed the rims!!!

been there.....here is what you do request his information on ebay(under the help tab)...he will get yours as well and be notified that you have been sent his...... that may shake him.....if not than call the local district attorney in his town or police in some cases......give them the info and the background and the police may show up on his door step or he gets a letter...... Hell if you wont you can usually can pay a attorney small amount of money to write a "scare" letter for you and mail it.....In my case a guy tried to run off with my $500 and the police showed up and ask for it back and I got it mailed back to me......hope this helps
All else fails ask a local h.a.m.b.er to knock on his door or deliver a letter from you:D

This just echoes comments from others, but what you do is either ask a HAMBer that is near the item you're interested in, or a relative. I know a lot of HAMBers don't like the NSRA, but they have "fellow pages" that have been invaluable to me. It's just a small book, segregated by state, with name and phone numbers of other NSRA members that have agreed to assist you if you break down, or something else. I had a guy I didn't know in Michigan look at a truck I wanted to buy off of Ebray. He took pictures and also took along a buddy that had restored two trucks similar to what I was interested in. Turned out that it was a 52 cab on a 49 frame, but all the paperwork was 49. The seller was not trying to pull anything, he was surprised as anyone. Titled as a 1952 - I bought it after all this. It just helps to have someone looking out for YOUR interests, most sellers are not.
