do a search. there was a big post about doing poor rust repairs, seems the metal patch panel guys were outnumbered by the glue fiberglkass bondoglass rivit what tha fack!! kind of repairs.

where are all the fellers who yesterday defended poor bodywork on a driver??.

I think he got a good car for the money. just leave it like it is outside and make it a good driver then drive it till you sell it then buy anotherone. I did that with like 4 or 5 60's cars in the 80's. I like original paint even if it is messed up.. fewer suprises down the road.

I think with a little bit of work.. you will have a Nice Car..You got something that can been cleaned up nicely..

You wouldnt find something like that up here for that money.. heres a saying I hear lots up here....( there was one just like it on Barrett/jackson that went for 20.000 more) .. if you catch my meaning.. thats the most heard Saying by people that sell Old cars up here.. even the door handles could be held on by bail wire..

Ebay MOTORS is a Used Car LOT.. Ive seen a lot worse sell for alot more.. When I see a Word RARE in the TITLE.. I just keep going to the next section.

Ive found that most descriptions are vague.. because it could lead to more problems.. the less you say, the better off you are. sort of speaking.. I find if the owner does not reply with in the hour of a question.. there items are not worth bidding on...

Clean it up.. It needs some work.. but it looks well worth it..

    Sorry you got "burned".

I've bought cars off "E-Pay" unseen but I usually limit my bid to "what is my worst case fear" limitation. Then I take my licks when I pick it up. I would never take a selling persons word for a vehicle condition.

I do vehicle pre purchase inspection, check paperwork and provide local transport to worldwide shipping companies on a part time basis.

I will give a HAMB discount.

Honestly, I think you got what you paid for.

$3,250.00 seems to be a fair price. And the seller never mentioned the car had new quarters on it.... it's possible HE bought it this way and was unaware of it. He never made any statements that the 1/4's didn't have any previous rust out.

Unless you can prove the seller hid the rust out, you're the new owner.

    Tuff to prove.

Its unfortunate that you aren't happy with your car, that sucks. I bought my Dodge off ebay. I called the seller a couple of times with questions. I told myself if the car looks like the pictures when I go to pick it up(Ohio to Iowa) that I would be happy. It did. As a matter of fact it was better than pictured because all the missing trim was in the trunk. I guess I was lucky and the seller was truthful and honest.

Welcome to the ebay world, Ive done a couple of times and chased a guy from NY down to FL where he was operating under another ebay name, notified ebay and they did shit about it, got screwed by another guy in Indiana who trades under a ladies name omn ebay, called the local cops who would not even talk to him, called the FBI got them to frighten the shit out of the local cops who went and talked to him and asked for evidence of shipping me the panel.
The issue for not shipping was the guy mis quoted the shipping and I gave him the chance to correct it but he just abused me and said I was an idiot.
Since he had to show a shipping receipt to the cops he cut the door in half and sent me half and showed the cops a receipt. Ebay nothing about it.

There are some great ebay folks out there but it only takes one loser to screw you and what hurts even more is paying the cost of shipping junk.

A friend of mine was bidding on a ferrari, turns out it was just a picture of a car in a car park and not even in the state advertised.

I hate calling a voice mail when I need real help not lip service and questionaires.

Hell that little shoebox looks like one of the better deals anyone on here with a "look what I just got" project car has gotten lately. After all you did bid on the car
and even upped your bid once. And no slick salesman in a plad sports coat even twisted your arm.

It may not be "California car" perfect but it sure looks like a doable car for the money.

Now you went ahead and jumped the gun by leaving feedback already, good luck with the seller cooperating now!!!

"The car was grossly misrepresented!! body panel damage so severe not even fixabl"

Come on,you know that it`s fixable!! That car is seriously worth more then $3k out here.

Those metal things over the rockers are actually a metal skin offered by Dennis Carpenter. They are cheezy and I have seen those before. My old shoebox had them...and my rockers were completely gone behind them.

I did not read the whole thread, but as a suggestion to anyone; Chime on the board to see if a local HAMB'er can go look at it and report back to you with different pictures and his/her opinion on the car as if THEY were going to buy it. Even get some video of the car w/ the motor running or with them test driving the car.

Good luck on your efforts. I know how you feel...I was taken by a dude here on the board...and it took 3 other HAMB'ers to just get the car. When I got it...I sold the car 3 days later. I was sick.

The bright side is...you have a nice looking car and the rest looks solid. I have seen worste. I could have paid it if that is what I wanted at the time.

Get a Rebel Wire harness and Wire it up, fix the rockers when you get to it...and run it. Work on it as you go.

man if you're such a pro quit your whining and get to work. First you sound like a kid crying about selling his truck to buy a POS and then you talk about what a pro custom car builder you are. Are you a victim or an expert or what?

The ad describes what you got. A rusty shell with nice chrome and a drivetrain. You paid way too much for it, and shipped it to boot. You fed up, mr. shop owning pro-fessional. I can only imagine what you said to the guy that sold it to you. I'd hang up on you too.

Sarkowski motors is a real expert, perhaps you shouldn't be so quick to dismiss his words, fella.

So I bought myself a Bday present off Xbay
Advertised as a 51 Willys wagon
Had to sell my 88 Wagoneer to pay for it
My friend Dan dragged it down from Fresno to <ST1:p</ST1:pW.L.A
    .http://www.thehotrodhaulers.com/

Looked a lot different when it rolled out of the trailer
To say nothing of no title and out of date paper work last registered as a 61 ???
So I call the Guy in <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:pFresno</ST1:p</st1:City> and ask about the paper work and where is that vin tag
He say’s it’s in the glove box under the front seat
You mean the back seat bolted in the front I looked and vacuumed it out and no vin and what about that front seat
Well after about 20 min he said that his father in law had a similar wagon and needed that front seat and vin
Am I upset ? not at all I found a 52 in <st1:City><ST1:pUpland</ST1:p</st1:City> paid the money and proceeded
To take every thing I need for my project cut that dog to pieces and got title and vin
    So I now have a 52 Willys wagon running a 302 C4 Ford 9 inch
The only down side is I live in an apt and scum metal scrappers got my spare doors and tailgate late one night but I’m sure I’ll find others
Be happy you have a cool car

For what you paid for it, I think you did ok,
its not like it cant be fixed, hey for the age of the vehicle you have to expect to do some work to get it the way you want it.
and his opinion of a decent car and body rot, and your opinion of those same things can be two different worlds.
Take it in stride and move on maturely,
get out in the garage and make it what you want out of it..
maybe..maybe Karma had a hand in this? i dont know, but rise above that and show us you got what it takes to make it what you want...you can do it.

Im kinda surprised with e-bay in the title that this thread didnt get locked sooner...really it should be

I think you actually did ok..around here in jersey that price ismore then fair.. rockers cost you what 100 bucks? 300 for front floors ,300 for back, 300 for trunk. Looking at 150 for front and 150 for back in quarter patches.. so you toss 2 grand at it and your looking at a 5 grand for a nice solid shoe box.. you probably have an engine and tranny lined up somewhere, already figured it needed paint..I really dont think your that bad off..I mean it all depends how you look at it.. you knew it had rust on it.. so you woulda had to fix those spots anyway and paid the same amount..
Now not trying to break your stones.. just giving you another way to look at it.Yeah it sucks when you have higher expectations..but you do have a decent platform to start.. alot better then mine thats for sure.. you live and you learn.. but in the meantime you wrench away..

My buddy bought a 40 ford sedan delivery off ebay, a couple of years ago.Payed with Paypal, got it shipped in was worse than the add desribed. He said it was a pain the as# but he ended up getting 1000 back on the deal through paypal and ebay.He paid over 4000.00 for a pretty much bare delivery. I which my shoebox looked as good as yours. If he would refund your shipping it wouldnt look like a bad deal.Good luck with getting some or all your money back.

I sold lots of stuff over there, started in '98 when it was still young & most on it were fairly honest. Bought a lot too and still have 100% feedback. But we all just gotta remember that old saying about "Buyer Beware". Personally, I can't afford to send anyone big $$$ without knowing perzactly what I'm getting. If it cost me a few $$$ to travel and if I want it bad enough I'd consider it easier to do that, than suffering severe buyer's remorse after the sale. On the smaller stuff I buy, I figure if I can't afford to lose the $$$ I'm bidding, I won't bid. There's no such thing as morality police, and protection policies by any of these places cannot protect us against scumbags who only want to make a $$$ no matter how they do it. 2 cents worth...

Just started selling on ebay. I always worry about misrepresenting my stuff as something its not. Like the $130.50 Mercury Comet parts car I just sold. Two door hardtop, no drivetrain, no wheels, floor pan rot, no interior, no hood, no fender, half a grill. All good glass except the rear window and pretty good window stainless. Listed for $100, and hopefully the buyer won't complain about it "looking better" in pictures or anything.

Listed my '56 Buick two door post on there as well. Pretty solid car for the price around here, and not a four door or a Packard or something of that like either.
