Guy's I need a little help... I have a 1962 Fairlane Sports Coupe with a 221 V8... I replaced the carb and intake from the original to a Holley 450 CFM 4 barrel and Wieand intake. When I first did the swap it ran fine but now the car won't idle unless the choke is closed... I have replaced the fuel filter and checked the lines to make sure they weren't clogged. Do any of you have an idea what is wrong? It is driving me nuts!! Any help is greatly appreciated!! Thanks, Kris
Your ***le reminds me of a lame old joke. A pirate walks into a bar. The bartender sees him and asks "what's that steering wheel doing in your pants" and the pirate replies "she drives me... Anyways have you checked for a vacuum leak?
I disagree unless it's running fast . A vacuum leak as far as I know will make it idle up and if that's what it's doing then I screwed up.
Is it runnin too lean, if the choke is closed, that means the air flow is cut down, meaning a smaller amount of fuel is used to mix with the smaller amount of air to keep it running. It sounds right in theory anyway.
Thanks for all the suggestions.... it turned out to be a stuck needle valve and bad gas. Horrible combination to have... I think I have them both solved. I HOPE!!!
