Found a cast iron Chevy distributor from the early '60s, I think. The little aluminum band reads: 1110947 1 H 28 Cast into the stem is the number 360. I'd like to know what it was in originally. Thanks.
Not much help, but 1 H 28 means 1961 August 28. With that date, it could be from a '61 or a '62. I've found over the years that alternators and distributors are date coded the opposite of block & head castings, etc. (the year being the first digit rather than the last) An old MOTORS manual is a good source for identifying distributors, unfortunately I don't have them at my disposal anymore.
Thanks. That helps. How about this one? 1112846 3 K 25 I'm guessing '73 October 25, but I'd like to know the engine. Thanks.
With that date (which you are probably correct on), it's from a 1974 something. I really don't have any distributor numbers memorized . But I still remember the VIN and carburetor number from my '70 GTO that I sold 20 years ago. Alot of good that does anybody.
