Does anybody recognize this wheel? 16 x 3.5 4-37 KH. I know its Kelsey Hayes. I think the date code is April 1937? There are 7 slots. I want to say its a Willys wheel but I don't know. Any help would be appreciated. Vincent
Could be Willys! I think they had four lug bolt pattern around 1940. Also, I think KH was an American co.???
Most european Ford Wheels....or everyone i have seen is KH..... anglia and older Newer wheels than that i dont look at
I tried finding photos of 4 lug Willys wheels on the web and found none. For that matter I am having trouble finding any 4 lug 16" wheels.
Could be a Willys color, but I agree with vince76 - not many 16" wheels with only four lugs, not in the US anyway. Kelsey Hayes is a large wheel manufacturer. I've always ***ociated them with Ford products, but who knows back then.
So I'm looking in my Hollanders, and there are a couple 16" - 4 lug wheels. Studebaker Champion and Nash. BUT they are 4" wide and this is 3.5. It is very possible but I don't think its a trailer wheel. I have been wrong before.
Willys did have a 4 lug sixteen inch wheel in 37-38, and early '39. I have 4 of them, I'll check... if I can find them in the Minnesota snow. g-willys
g-willys, that would be greatly appreciated. I got this wheel in with a load of other stuff. There was some Studebaker stuff in the mix. So it could be Stude. The only Stude wheels I have seen have 3 slots for the hub cap clips. This one does not.
Rim looks just like my '37-'38 rims from my Willys sedan. Found one in the snow bank, and three in the pole barn. Had them sandblasted and painted and then never did use them, as I converted to hydraulic brakes, and used the later 5 bolt set up. Early '39's called the Model 48 also had them, as Willys went to the 5 bolt pattern in mid '39 with the change over from cable brakes to hydraulic with the Model 39 (sharknose front). Color also looks close to an original color chip that I have from 37-38 color chart. g-willys
