I have a vacuum leak, if I touch the brakes the motor stalls. I have checked the carb and manifold gaskets and they looked good. All the hoses are in good shape and tight. Where do I start now?

Hose to the brake booster? Bad brake booster diaphram? Bad rubber grommet brake booster line to booster? Lippy

how about the booster. removed and plug va*** line. hit brakes. no stall, get a hand held va*** pump and pull va*** on booster. see if it holds.

  5. Yeah, if it's ok until you hit the brakes, your problem is inside the booster.

I sprayed starter fluid and nothing poped up, also pulled brake booster hose and still stalled.

  7. looking at your ID, I'm guessing it's on a 61 Cad. I don't know if the '61 has a park brake vac*** diaphram (to release the brake when you select a gear), but my '60 does, and I had a leak there once (It was mounted under the dash on the park brake ***embly.
But your symptoms sure sound like a bad booster.

try to block off the line that goes to the booster with a pair of needle nose pliers and be careful not to tear the hose in the process have a helper step on the brakes and see if the problem goes away. if it does you have a faulty booster. if not I would check the park brake vacuum line like 36 roadster suggested. I belive that you will find your leak in those areas. good luck and keep us updated!!!
