Have you checked to see if a Socket Head Cap screw has full thread ? Have used them before in similar applications and 7/16 has a 39 Rockwell and a Tensil strenght of 18,000lbs
Jeez I'm embar***ed. I just put chrome lugs on my Chevy which is why I had 7/16's on the brain. Don you're right, I just checked and theyre 1/2" x 20. Should be easier to find
1/2 by 20 are easy to find. Just call your favorite catalog speed shop. By the way it has nothing to do with the thread but for any of you fellas using a chebby engine 7/16 is the proper stock size for you motor mounts.
Haha, I wish I had a nickle for every time I've done something like that. I used to be able to look at a bolt head or thread size and know what wrench I needed. Now I try every one in the tool box before I get the right one. Don
And here they are. I'm a dumb***. No, just aging like the rest of us. As you age and collect so much info, the brain's filing system gets taxed at times. You won't be to the dumb*** stage until you actually spend the $40 for the incorrect part only to discover upon installation that it's incorrect!
and for the record B7 threaded rod is grade 8 mcmastercarr sells it in 3 foot lengths 1/2-20- 3' sells for $9.12 each http://www.mcmaster.com/#standard-threaded-rods/=kxu3es
At least you figured it out before buying the 3 something each ones. Now you owe every one of us who spent the last few hours hunting the 7/16-20x2 gr 8 fully threaded cap screws a brew and probably owe Don more than that
