I am still running the stock tank on my tudor sedan. Where the column mounts to the tank (not the best design in my opinion) there are two rivots that hold the mount there, why you would want holes in a tank holfing fuel I dont know, but I guess thats the best solution they had back then. Anyway, I am sure people used the wheel over the years to get in the car, loosening the seal, this has caused a small "weepy" leak, enough to smell fumes when working under there.

Any ideas how to seal this? I tried seal all on the outside for a temporary fix, but going to need something more permanent. I cant see how it could be welded from inside, is there a product to seal from the inside? Or am I only looking at and exterior fix, or do I need to just get another tank, or run a different mount?

    Ideas appreciated.

i had the same problem once. sealed it with stuff called red-kote. been working fine for years now.

  3. Plain old ivory or life boy soap rubbed on it will seal it until it gets wet with water.

Go to your local motorcycle shop, get a Kreem gas tank liner kit. and a second bottle of the coating. Youll be set.

Red kote seals the outside or inside, how is it applied?

remount the column, or it'll only be a temporary fix. bring it down to your local radiator shop for a solder job and red coat.

I found the seams in the end of the tank on the Reo (avatar) were seeping.....I used the POR gas tank repair nearly 3 years ago and it hasn't leaked since! It wasn't cheap, but it sure seemed (how's that for a pun?) to have worked.
