There are no "recommendations" since each car is different. It just needs to be secure. Read between the lines: Tech is not like a NHRA track.

  2. 4 CYLINDER AUTO: All American flathead four cylinder makes and speed vintage equipment are accepted. Overhead valve, trans adapters and 1939 transmissions are acceptable. NO Modern Transmissions or parts accepted.
NOTE: This class will be limited in size. Only the fastest will get in.

Does this mean there is a qualification to race? or only to race in this class?

You need to go on the website like previously stated. The car in your first post won’t get on the beach.

You know if the car as it sits is how you want your car to be leave it alone. There’s other events you can attend and run as is. If you’re willing to drive to New Jersey then why not drive up to Winterport Maine for Pinetree Jamborees in September. That’s 3 days of non stop racing at an old school drag strip. All flatheads and 4 bangers. Fenders, no fenders, stockers, full blown racecars. You can make 100 passes a weekend if you want and you’ll have a killer time with some of the best people in the hobby. Your car, as is, can go participate.
They have onsite camping in the grassy pit area, the property is huge set in beautiful northern Maine. They have a killer swap meet. I can’t say enough good things about that event. Good luck
