Ok I did a search and found nothing. I have a 37 Ford pickup. Aside from the 2 outside screws. How do you get the outside handle out of the door? I can't seem to get any movement trying to pull it out. Can't feel any clips either. later, Bill
Pull the inside release open. Where the release arm connects to the latch stick a punch in the hole to hold it open.
Once the screws are removed it should pull out, I have not seen any other device to hold the handle spindle in the lock body. It may be seized in place with rust/dirt, remove the door lining and try to loosen with a sharp rap from a hammer. If that doesn't work you may need to use a spray sovent to loosen the crud.
If you have original handles you will remove the two outside mounting screws then turn the handle 1/4 turn which will line up the offset machined sections of the handle shaft with the latch, pull out and turn back up to remove. Replacement handles without the machined shafts will pull out after you remove the screws. This method gets the handles out of all 26-39 Ford cars and 26-47 Trucks. 40-48 Cars have a screw behind the lip of the door on the door facing which screws into the tapered mounting base of the handle and wedges the handle in place.
