A friend bought some antique automotive tools recently, this was in the box. It's uses compressed air. Anyone recognize it?
That is indeed a fascinating piece of equipment! So just for the hell of it, make sure the valve is fully closed and then hook it up to the air hose and slowly open the valve and see or hear what it does! Shoot a little 30 second video of that so all of the HAMB Universe can learn something new about something old!
I'd like to know if that square headed bolt directly under the office is hollow or not. I think it would make a loud whistle if properly adjusted
not 100% sure but I work in the gear & bearing industry. Often times we have to heat & grow bearings for ***embly. To speed up the cooling process we make "halo" tooling to distribute air over the heated bearing after ***embly. This looks similar.
My mind ran toward a production fixture process. Like a single task part of something more complex. The manual valve says 1 at a time tho.
That 90* fitting on the end doesnt look like a general 90* flow air fitting. Possible it it a recipricating air motor that was a production long reach peening tool that someone added some length to. Similar to a air hammer. Think extended reach for peening dents out from behind something. I. E. Fender.
