I'm building an A based body from a 30/31 roadster cowl and gas tank at school. I need the roadster door dimensions to base the rest of the body off of. I know the info is on here but I don't have time to go searching. I'll post pics as soon as I figure out how. Any help will be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks. Ed
There is a good scale drawing with dimensions from the Model A salesman's book that has been reproduced in 5 or so Model A resto books--someone here must have one and a scanner. I'd offer a xerox by mail, but I must be a year behind on stuff I've offered to send people because my wife is in the hospital. Somebody here has that pic--side-on line drawing, lots of measurements.
I'll try to give you the door dimensions... Looking at the driver's door: bottom side to side= 231/2", top side to side at beltline =23 3/4", right verticle ( handle side)=25 7/8" , verticle center of door= 25 3/4", now this gets difficult. if you look at the drawings above you'll see a peak at the top of the door(hinge side ) where it meets the lower stanchion area, this is 26" at peak. And you thought the doors were square!
And remember Model A doors overlap body at rear--they do not fit entirely into edge of opening like later doors.
Thanks everyone! this is going to help a great deal!! This is exactly what I needed. Once I figure out this picture posting thing I'll let everyone see what I'm doing. Thanks again Ed
Original scans from a Model A restoration guide are in my album here. Very large - over 1 meg in size so be forwarned. If they are too big pm me and I can resize it (any or all) and email it to you. http://www.imagestation.com/album/pictures.html?id=4291051895
