It's sort of tech-ish question.. can someone de-code this rochester 2bbl. for me please. I've searched and cannot find it. the only numbers I can find are on the bottom of the bowl. 7008597 on top it says- GM 2 jet Rochester Thanks
I did a little digging and the closest I can come is a #7008697 which is a 56 Pontiac 4 bbl. Go Here for a breakdown on the codes You may want to go onto the Dogpile search engine and do a search on, "Rochester carburetor numbers." I did and got a lot of sites back.
I tried that link and couldn't make heads or tails of it! much of my number doesn't translate.. I'm still lost! wheres this dogpile search?
Grumpy, are you positive of the numbers. They don't jive with my Chevy by no.s. It says the 5 would designate it as a q-jet. You are using the stamped number, right?
it's not a stamped number. it's a number cast onto the bottom of the bowl. I cannot find any other number on it. I've looked and looked. I found a pic of one very similar thats a 71 GMC carb, but it's not dead on... I'm at a loss..
Sorry I replied before I could read your last post. Can you give a discription? manual choke, vacuum choke pulloff? Stamped no. should be close to bottom of side and maybe going up and down.
They made a small base and a big base Rochester. Figure out what you have and buy a rebuild kit for that size.
Reading the book it says if you take the throttle plate off , look just above the throtle plates. On pre-'71 carbs there will be 2 small holes,,look to be about 3/32 or so, vented to the outside.
it's manual choke I'm not sure what a vacuum choke pulloff is! and theres no visible numbers anywhere but under bowl.
it's on a 1 bbl. to 2 bbl. adapter so I'm guessing it's a small base. and it appears to be 1 1/4 bore. just a guess without measuring.
Book says it's probably a truck or marine application, because of the manual choke, model 2G. Accelarator pump would be 5/8 inch. That might be enough to get a kit, I hope.
Some Studebakers V8's had Roch 2Jets on them. They had the small base pattern & had the side inlet for fuel. Here's a pic of the one off my 259 V8-
Thanks! I'll research more tomorrow. and I'll look for more numbers too. I'm too tired to mess with it tonite. again, Thanks
Grumpy, the white thing would be the vacuum choke pulloff, bu you wouldn't have one being your's is manual.
7013678 (I think) is cast on the L side opposite of the fuel inlet.26547 is cast into the underside of the base. Other than that, I can't find any #'s on mine.
ok i just went thru this with my carbs. i have the same ones. and all the books dont list the number. heres the part number of the rebuild kit i used. its a std part number any good parts store should be able to cross it for ya. 123A is the number. the kit i used was a HYGRADE JIFFY KIT. i got it from a auto value store. the onley warehouse that still has some laying around is in madision wisconsin. took my guys 2 days to get it to detroit for me. cost me 9.27. if u cant find one i can order another one for ya and send it to you.
most of the early 2 jets really didn't have i.d numbers on them (some had a metal tag under one of the bowl screws) just individual casting part numbers. if it's a side feed (fuel inlet on the side) then it's a small 2 jet from a 283,327, also the less vacuum lines the older it is. i just got one for a friends car (model a with 3x2), i took a stab at the year and said '66 full size car with a 327 (carbs were from the swapmeet), alot of the 2 jet internals are the same, just make sure that ALL the gaskets are the same and you should be ok.
I just got another carb, number 7029110. says 69 chevy 49-state 2 bbl. would this be a better option? then use the other one as parts? will this one work on my 1 bbl. to 2 bbl. for my 70 250/six in my 49? with a P/G
