This bomber seat is in a car with significant history. The owner needs help identifying the seat so he can get one in a little better shape or even get one he can use for parts to repair this one. Thanks for the help! Clark
No I didn't!!!!!! I have been studying here on the HAMB for many hours many days....just in case. And I finally found a case! JJ
Ok. You got me curious now. Looks more like a B17. http://us****pits.com/Early%20Bombers/Early Bombers.html

Larry...when you say cut down, what part are you talking about. Headreast area cut off? The bead around the top looks original. That plate looks added. Clark
That looks more like a Fighter seat. Bomber seats usually had more to them. This is a Privateer seat which is another version of the B-24
Larry...it does look just like the B-17 seat in that first pic of yours......just shorter. He was told by someone it may be a jet seat. Possible? Clark
Clark: You may be well-served by contacting the Paul Garber facility that does most of the restorations for the Smithsonian Air & Space Museums...they probably have a few folks there that can I.D. that seat for you with a very high degree of certainty. All the best-Mark aka W.S. http://www.nasm.si.edu/museum/garber/ http://www.nasm.si.edu/help/contact.cfm
Mark...the problem he's been having is the airplane crowd doesn't want to talk to hot rodders.........for good reason. Their seats are being hoarded up by the hot rodders Clark
I would still go with the B24 seat , it would depend on location in the air craft. what time frame during the war . and also parts are parts -war time anything worked.
Well, just got this from a Warbirds forum and it is a B-17 seat. The wild part is that the person who sent me this is in France!!
OK...seat settled...now about that bear...What?? How?? When?? Who?? Why?? Navigator's ***istant? Foot warmer?
forgot about the radio operator's seat on the B-17...yes it was shorter, but looked like the pilot's seat. *update*...found your seat, but the site won't let me copy it. go to www.wilhelm-aerospace.org click on: Travels scroll down to: Route 66 and So'Cal scroll down to: Planes of Fame Museum scroll down to the image that is ***led: The radio equipment ...there's your seat...a B-17 Radio Operator's seat.
Here's a Grumman "Duck" seat. Don't think thats right either but you gotta love the"suspension". Roar and Soar show is this weekend so I'll try and get some better seat pics. The B17 pics I posted earlier"could" have different seats(I'll ask), this plane flew unmanned during Andrew in 92 and by the time it was found somebody had already snagged the seats and guns... Damn hot rodders...
