I’ve had a hard time putting together a shifter, shift lever, and rods for my 62 Galaxie. I have one I bought on eBay that is non returnable. The back mounting plate could fit a 62 Galaxie but I would have to grind a bit on it. The rods definitely wont fit a 62-64 Galaxie T10. The rods may not even go with the shifter but I don’t want to mislead anyone when I go to sell it. IMG_2154.JPG IMG_2156.JPG IMG_2157.JPG IMG_2158.JPG IMG_2159.JPG

Reverse rod looks to long for a T 10

I know its too long for any T10 in a Galaxie. The only one that actually works is the 3/4 rod. The 1/2 could be made to work. No chance on the reverse. I know someone put this together that didn't know what they were doing, because I had to switch the reverse and 1/2 rods to even get close. Since the T10’s were used by all the big three in the sixties I thought someone here might be my best chance of getting the rods identified and going to the right guy’s project.

I seriously doubt the three different rods go to the same application. Its highly probable that each rod goes to a different application.

You can bet the guy that pieced it together knew what was needed to get it sold, saw similar shifters like it at swap meets over the years.
My past experience with T-10's is only Chevy based and I used Hurst shifters on them.

Saginaw 4 speed will use a longer reverse rod.

I have 2 Galaxie T10's with shifters out in the connex, but they are snowed in for now. If you have a bit if time I can get out there and take pics installed.

Thanks for offering but I finally found good pictures and located a correct 62 shift mechanism in one place, a shift lever in another and finally the correct rods in a third. Trying to build an original clone and keeping it HAMB friendly is not cheap nor easy.

I’ll try to remember to post the transmission and linkage all together once everything is cleaned up and installed.

If you need these or parts, they could be available.

I would like to find a source for a shift rebuild kit for the 0.625 shaft shifter. Does anybody have Bill Heeley’s email or contact information?
