Trying to figure out which cluster belongs on my 30 roadster? It's hard to tell for me if the cluster with the oval hole speedo would be correct or the round holes. Thanks ahead of time. 20150903_183524.jpg

I believe the oval speedo is 28-29 round 30-31.Or else I'll get corrected.

Yeah I thought the same thing but I was looking in to it and it said early 30' came with oval and late 30 came with rounds. It's hard to tell the difference.

I have a stock 1928 and it has the oval speedo. Not sure when they changed. You could ask over on the FordBarn and I am sure they would know for certain.

  5. The change was mid 1930 from oval to round. Early 1930 was oval, late was round. Here is a site that will tell you more than you ever wanted to know about Model A gas tanks: http://www.plucks329s.org/pdf/gastank/Evo30_31gas_tank.pdf If you look at figures 12 and 13 yours looks like it would take the oval speedometer.

That's exactly the information I was looking for thanks a lot, I agree looks like a early 30 tank so it requires the oval speedometer. The top two mounting screw holes are in different spots compared to the curve of the cluster. So it helped huge to I'd mine to an early 30's tank. Made my day thank you.

  7. You are correct go to the head of the class.

I think that either will bolt up though.

  8. I don't have personal experience but looking at the shape of the tank at 3:00 and 9:00 o'clock I think there would be a mismatch even if you could bolt the incorrect dash into the tank.

  9. Damn it Charlie now I got to find a 30 tank and see. I think we have swapped them before but I could be mistaken.

OK just checked the wings on the 30 are wider and more oblique.
