Any idea what the BBQ skewer looking tool is used for?

Was told it was some sort of timing tool.

It came in a package with plug wire lables and a timing tape

It's driving me nuts, so thanks for any help

The kit is labeled EELCO 4227 on the tag.

Looks like a timing pointer for pointing at the balancer. Number stickers are probably to stick on the balancer.

Might be for sticking in the spark plug hole to find TDC before putting on the timing tape.

Exactly...you secure it with a bolt, and bend to point at the tape. Unless instructions specify an application and use...the timing sticker might have been made to go on the distributor. Those varied considerably less than pulleys and dampers, so accuracy in random applications would have been a bit better.
