Help ID these "old skool" hubcaps

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by sckracing, Nov 18, 2010.

  1. I was given these hubcaps (only 3 of them) from an older neighbor who believed I could use them, her husband and son - both since passed away - used to "play 'round with those hot rodding cars like yours". I believe they are from the 50's or early 60's.

Unfortunately I can't use them on my steels as the circumference/diameter of the cap is too small for my wheels (I have '90 chevy wheels-5 on 4.75- on the back, and 80's 5 on 4.50- Mopar wheels on the front). They are 6 3/4" Diam - 22 1/4" circumference.

I know I've seen them in early pics of hot rods - anyone know who made them, if they're still made or seen at swap meets?

They're called "Shannon Cones". They look awesome on painted steel wheels.

Those are made for appliance smoothies, made in the early 70s, I've got a few if you want to complete the set.

  5. They did look cool on my steels - until I realized they'd come off at...idling!
